hello everyone, im trying to put a decoder in a knew Proto 2000 GP9. i have correctly identified all the wires according to color but 2. on the left side (firemans side) there is a red wire comeing frombelow the motor. on the top chassis on the right side (engineers side) there is another red wire attached to the chassis. now i know there is supposed to be a orange wire in this mess somewhere, but they must have run out at the factory and put two red wires instead. my question is which red wire is the motor lead? is it the one on the left side or the one on top of the chassis attached to nothing? thanks for all the help!

The red wire going below the motor is the motor lead you're seeking. The one attached to the chassis is the ground. The motor is insulated from the frame, and uses the wire to complete the circuit.
Those two wires on the GP7 I have are nearly the same color; one is just barely lighter than the other.
