SCCA Solo and rally racing is a great place to start. You'll find schedules and contact info on their website.

They also run solo events at Firebird and PIR. The summer is not the best time to get started. We have our racing season in the winter when it's nice out. I think the first race is in Oct.

Site has pretty much all the info you would need to get started? Depending on what type of car your interested in racing. Legends/Thunder Roadsters are a great way to get started with out going through any formal certification process.
