The PE is a very fun train and it looks great with the Berkshire pulling everything. Just remember that it doesn't pour a ton of smoke out of the stack with the CW-80 transformer. In fact mine doesn't smoke all that great except when I run it with the MTH Z-1000 transformer.

Good luck with your new PE and have a ton of fun.

The whistle feature will not work with the SW 135, you will need a seperate add on button control. I suspect you will need the same with the 1033 but since I have never used that transformer it would only be a guess.

Great set - bought one for my nieces a couple of Xmas ago. Perfect to go around the tree during the hoildays.

There are many ways to get around the wife discovering your new purchases- but in the end they'll discover them and only get more annoyed. I usually use the 'hide in plain sight' technique, where I leave all of the boxes in a pile and add the new ones a few boxes at a time.

My wife still notices the new trains, though.:D

I bought one and gave it to my wife for Christmas. She now pokes around the Lionel section of the Hobby shop while look at the HO.

It should work alright with the 1033; if the whistle doesn't work, switch the wires. We still get enough performance from the CW80 and my 1033 is running my OO layout.

hhhmmm.... I've heard that's a common ailment with the new Lionels. They need to run a few times before the smoker kicks in. Just don't drown it!

I don’t even try to hide them anymore. CASE STUDY; Kate my 10 year old. Hey daddy when did you get that train? Meg my 14-year-old daughter. Dad you sure did get a lot of new trains this month.

So unless I plan on hiding them for the next 10 years I just tell my wife it is less painful that way.

lmao i dont try to hide them, but most times she know by the box it comes in, dont even have to be a train box.....lol so this time i hid the box and put the train on the layout. i wanted to see if she would know it was new, or just think it was one i always had.

kid told her before she got 3 steps in the house tho.
