Fancy trailers

These were actually painted, before the plastic sheets. better quality pictures in the gallery. Something unusual to model in the 70's Charlie

Here is one Doctor Wayne or Deano would be proud to claim. Wayne, do you know where I was when I took this. I think it was Hamilton or close by but I would like to pinpoint the location. Oct 1979.

Canada, eh?
Geez, Charlie, I don't recognise the locale. Most of the TH&B's yards in Hamilton are in industrial areas or have the Niagara Escarpment in the background. That could be the Escarpment in the far distance, but the rural scenery between it and the boxcar have got me puzzled. It must be on TH&B tracks though, as the car still has a roofwalk and full ladders, in 1979. The elm tree at right suggests Smithville, but I don't think that they had that much trackage there. Ya got me!!

Dear Wayne
It was a large yard, Maybe Conrail as I took this one the same day. The black on the body of the locomotive caught my eye. Never saw another one painted the same way.

We were on our way home from Toronto so I'm sure we were not too far off the main highway. There were some older THB cars there as well as a THB cab or van, along with some older passenger cars probably used for M&W. And I can tell you it was a great trip, and at the right time for railfanning. First generation diesels were easily found along with the MLW units.

The TH&B met the CASO (Conrail) in Welland, did it not? And Welland is a bit flattish. That's a possible location. Too many tracks for Waterford, another TH&B/CASO connection.

Conrail was using this pair of CNW locomotives in August of 1977 for helper service on the Fort Wayne line. This was taken in East Palestine, OH as they run light westbound to pick up another train.

I knew CNW had a presence in Ohio! So maybe having the CNW in OH on my layout is closer to realism than I thought:eek:...
