weathering wood ?

Hello, I have just built a large trestle bridge, and I have seen a product advertised called "weather-it for wood".
It claims to naturally give wood an aged, grey look using a chemical reaction.
I cannot purchase this product down this part of the world (New Zealand), so was wondering if there is a household product or some other easily accessible product that will have this same chemical reaction on basswood and balsa ?
