Was this train ever prototypical? If so, what was its route?

TEP 60, My GUESS is this is one of those "Comemorative Special Edition" deals sold by mail order (or EvilBay - $149.95 Buy-it-Now). The engine and cars have prototypes, but not as decorated here. Choice is yours - lottsa folks like these items...but it probably didn't "run" any route, or even exist as a "real" train as shown...Can't vouch for the quality of the equipment or it's value either.
