Actually if you are refering to the paper model out there, the parts where not acurate at all. Both shape and size did not match the real model.

I used the side view of a land raider to start the model and then mesured how large it was supposed to be on the pastic kit i got.

Regarding the texture, sure. Give me an example of what you want and i'll get it for you. I have Photoshop files with different layers that i will give with the model so people can change them but since i'm doing tests anyway i can try with a texture you propose.

Thank you all for the nice comments so far, it really helps when i'm stuck to come back to this Forum and see the comments!!!:D

I hear you there, positive reinforcement really gives you a boost!

You are doing an excellent job from what I can see... :D :D I look forward to the opp for a layered file to texture!! Do you think you will release in .pdo with texture files then, so we can reload our modified textures?

try it, on the rar file you get the photoshop file, the current test version of the left track module and the textures i used to test the changes.
    the blue and red textures.

If anybody builds it please post comments and pictures!!!
It really helps to have a second opinion

On papekura, to change the texture go to Settings on top and choose
    Texture setting
then use the button Specify texture image to get a new texture for the part that is highlighted in yellow

I've got it here now, the only thing that is unclear is which texture to use for each component?

    Looks good though!

lets see...the first three textures you need to use : ultramarines_trackmodule.bmp or main_piece_blood ravens.bmp. The photoshop file for that is called : main_piece_resize2.psd

all the others use the ones with elements.
You get a preview of the texture on papekura and the model itself is highlighted in yellow on the 2d view.
    Makes sense?

ps: you are right, maybe i should rename them to something more explicit, got to check if that involves going back to the modeling software...

Can you names objects implicitly? The texture file name does not matter for pepakura. You can literally import any image file and it will merrily apply the UV layout to it (with some odd results I assure you). Thus if each object has a clear name, you can name the image files to match.

If you use the papekura viewer instead of the designer you can open the file without a password

It's been a long time since i could do updates on this.
the land raider is nearly done but i had a friend that needed a leman russ
division and asked me to build one. So I'm now doing both the leman russ and the land raider

a few pics of the leman russ, with and without a color texture
Also the textures I am using
    Any coments are welcome

that leman russ looks cool. what are you using for reference? looks like imperial armour for the track pods or the leman russ model i've seen here (which is basically the dawn of war model)

That 'Russ track looks awesome. I've downloaded (without yet printing) the one already available here, but this too looks like a nicely detailed model.

Any chance of a 'white' (and thus editable) version, or are you going with 'bare' armour colour?

I'll just upload with the model the white version and eventually get a few base colors on separate files so people can add logos and numbers.

the green version is done by adding a metal green texture over the white one and composing in photoshop.

planning on having a blue metal and desert yellow one as well.

The tracks come from thi picture bellow that i found on the net, then i did the outlines in photoshop for one link and duplicated it to make the full track. I'll probably have to redo the tracks on the 3d model since they are supposed to be 1 mil. tick.

I'll get a few pictures of the paper model as soon as I do a test

Corrected the track links that where causing a problem.
Had to make individual parts instead of a full part to avoid warp
in areas where the surface did not get the correct mapping settings.

Even with the option to normalize those faces it still got warped, look
at the first image, with the problem inside the red square

the next two take into account that the tickness of the track links makes them larger than the actual surface of the model, that is why they are "floating" above the model.

next will be to try them out for real
