I am making a model of The Mkb.42(W) and has finished the stock.
Im not sure what the part in the middle (the thing with the lighter colour behind the sight and on the top part of the rifle) Is it a saftey mechanism?
Also, If anyone has any good pictures, that would be nice.
A Big problem is I dont know how to do textures with 6KT (the 3d CAD that comes with Pepakura) so if anyone can help me, it would be most thankful.

Ah, the precursor to the MP43/44, STG44.

    Neat.

That spot you are talking about is where the spent shells eject :) it can also be manually pulled back in case it jams!

i dont use pep for for textures. you have to export the unfolded layout and apply textures in a paint program. unless you already have the uv maps set and need to set the textures that way? im not real clear on what you want to do in pep.

Yeah that's the ejection port for clearing jams.

remember folks, if it doesn't work, first rule of the military is smack it on the ground. :D

    More progress!
From you guys' advice, I think I will add the texture with Illustrator or Photoshoppe afterwards.

Guys, do you think I should do a "photographic effect" (like the remington derringer on ecardmodels) or a "Illustrator effect" ?

i guess it depends on a) your reference pictures available and or b) what end effect you want to acheive. jan rukers terminater rifle is an excelent example of non photo realistic textures used to look realistic. his aliens pulse rifle is a good example of simple textures used to good effect.
