Hi guys. I'm kind of a NOOB here. I recently made rawen's 1:1800 scale Star Trek XI enterprise and was wondering if anyone knew where to find a card model of the USS Vengeance from Into Darkness
Does someone want to try to design one? You would be awesome if you did

    Potential 3D model

    At this link:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=210949&page=4

there is a 3D model of the USS vengeance being made. I am hoping that if he posts a download (he says he will) someone can turn it into a paper craft. Preferably to scale with Rawen's.
At about 1/1500 scale, the Vengeance would be around 16 inches long!

This looks like it was designed to be made into a paper model (or plastic card). The guy did a great job on the Render. :)

I think that that would be a GREAT one for UHU02 to tackle.

I think his STXI Starbase would make an awesome paper model, and i would love to have it to scale with my 1/1500 scale fleet, but it's just too bad. I asked Madman for a download of the USS Vengeance model, as well as for permission for someone to turn it into a paper model.

Maybe you could ask him to join this forum? Could you find out if you can share his data? It would facilitate helping you (if you wanted, or needed it), without anyone's works being plagiarized. :)

On his website in the downloads section, he says that he has uploaded these so that anyone who wants can make artwork with them. My guess would be that making a paper model of it would be fine with him. Also, each file has a read me.txt in it explaining how to credit his work if you use it. He hasnt answered my post on the Trek BBS yet, but I'll let you guys know when he does.

Here is his website's downloads page:

man, man man! I like your "dreams", guys!

I downloaded his drydock, and it is how i tought: alot of intersections and a very high numbers of vertices and faces! and i bet my a$$, that his ships has the same problems! believe or not: a self designed model from ZERO has more success than a converted model into a papermodel!

Btw: that´s the worst Star Trek ship ever!!! oh, sorry, i forgot the klingon "birds" in this movie! wall1

yeah, it does have a lot of faces, but I think that if it was made in 1/1500 scale (to scale with Rawen's Micro-Enterprise) there could be a lot of pieces and it would look OK.

About the USS Vengeance: will you PLEASE PLEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE make us one. PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

not the faces and vertices are the main problem, but the intersections not allow you to make a correct unfold!

simple answer: NO, never ever! Sorry

Just a note to everyone who has been following this. Madman said he could post a download for the blender file. It isn't textured yet, but I'm sure somebody could do that.

I'm not sure if those were actually bird of preys. Personally I like this new design as a small Klingon fighter but not as a replacement bird of prey. I googled and found that in ST enterprise the bird of preys looked just like the TOS versions, so there would be no reason for the design to have changed that drastically, so I don't think that those could've been bird of preys.:confused::confused::confused:

I am able to exract the Mesh outline, and create surfaces easily with Rhino3D. Problem is that this Enterprise model has a bazillion parts and a lot of those parts could be one long one part. D-Whale is right, with good resource material, one could make a "Paper Model" easier. To be honest, with all the conversions I would have to do to make any of his models to get able to be made into paper, it would no longer be his model. There wouldn't be a line left from his render. His 3D models are superb renders, and if he had a Vengeance, it would make a good source of material for an other than Paper model. I downloaded and installed Blender, just to convert the file into a STL file to read it, as an .obj file, it was horrid. As an .stl, it was beautiful!

I found Blender to be as unintuitive as ever though. It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to export the model into a .stl format!

Lots of work and too many compound angles. If you are working with clay, wood, or some other more malleable, sand-able material, these files could be invaluable in helping reproduce an excellent model. For paper, I think it would be too much. Just my opinion. Paper models really have to be designed with the intent of the model being made into paper to get the best results. This guy knows Blender really well though, especially being able to produce such exquisite renders. This is all just my personal opinion and I hope to not to have offended anyone. For some reason, I get in trouble when I state my opinion? :)

Well, I was kind of expecting that to be a problem. At least once we get a 3D model of the USS Vengeance, we can give it to Rawen and/or Uhu02 to use as a reference. Hopefully, we can get a really nice model of it to add to our fleets.

I would like to re-draw it with excelsior textures and make it look federation, instead of some kind of anti-Roddenberry Borg clot.
