After spending two nights laying out transition curves with a beam compass,I decided to try printing out the XTrkCad file at 1:1 scale to see if I could use it as a template. Printing it to 11 x 17 paper worked, but it was difficlult to layout and overlap all of the sheets for a 4' x 8' layout. The engineering department where I work allowed me to use their 36" plotter, so I printed out two overlapping sheets. Track laying production has increased

dramatically. I'll cut the drawing out from under the track and put in cork a short segment at a time.

The picture is a hyperlihnk to a larger view.

This is working so well, I'm thinking of replacing the sectional track with flex.

Very cool...! Unfortunately, there are severe pentalties for using the large format printer where I work... :(

Definitely go for the flex track. There will be a bit more cutting required, but a lot less joints to make.
