    Kooklik,

One of these magnificent beasts lives at the Pomona Fair grounds few miles from my house. If you need, photos let me know and I'll do my best to get them for you.

Are you able to get up close & personal with it? or to protect the silly public from its self, have they enclosed it in a chain wire mesh fence?

Yes, you can walk right up to the Big Boy at the Pomona Fairplex, and it's still in a remarkable state of preservation.

(The outer boiler casing was removed in these 1998 photos to strip out the asbestos lining, according to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society - Southern California Chapter . I assume it's been replaced by now, but all-volunteer museums tend to move slowly on major projects, hampered by funding and manpower issues.)

The photo with the Big Boy on the flat bed trailer, I remember watching that program on either the discovery channel or channel 5(UK). If my brain is working ok they parked it on top of a hill.

    Hi Iriera
You have to wait for very long time :). So many details which I have never seen their drawings yet. Making understand with drawings takes longer than 3D creating.
Again small progress in 3D creating. The pilot (mostly complete)

That's the nice thing about the one at the Museum of Transportation in STL. They have metal stairs up to the cabin and all of the controls are labeled. You can sit in the engineer's seat and look down the magnificent beast's boiler.

Here's some pics that I found of ole #4006

It looks like you've got things well under control already but would a 2d cad drawing like this be of any help to you? It's an AutoCad LT 2004 version. Let me know and I can email it to you.

A few progress after finished front engine. I started on back engine. The frame is completely differrent from front engine. It just finished yesterday. Rear suspension is copied from front and some parts have to draw newly.

Maybe it would be quicker in Z scale 1/200 sign1
I'm sure Kooklik is working as quick as he can, there is still all the test fitting of parts,
redesigning when a part fits here but not there.
the proof reading, the destruct err instructions labelling the parts.
Guess what us with big fat fingers, better get tweezers ready some of those parts are going to be tiny & fragile, but its easy to make another one!
Note for the train people. Please start on a simple card model to get the feel for it before tackling this beast.
