Two killed as train leaves track

Very sad!

In Whitby last night a freight car derailed and plunged down to the road taking several more frieght cars with it and flattened a car with two women inside.
The train cars ended up a crumpled wreck underneath the trestle and along the tracks just east of Garden St North of Hwy2 at about 745pm.
Durham Police and C N say it could be months??? Before they will know what happed.

Chris, it'll take months before the newspapers learn what to call everything.
2 out of 3 referred to "boxcars", the other recognized the containers.
I can't tell by anything I've seen whether any cars went over. There was a comment about the containers being piled "too high"; triple stack? and another about the track on the bridge being slanted; did they mean superelevated?

A tragedy

I read about this the other day, the two women were sisters and one of them had a very young child who has now lost his mother. The terrible irony is that one of the victims wouldn't have even been there had she not decided to spend the night at her sister's to avoid driving home in the snowstorm the night before.

Very sad.
