Trying to identify old Lima engine

I have an old HO LIMA engine It is a Blue SAR HO locomotive has a made in Italy stamped on it and has a yellow logo E444. As far as I can see it does not have any additional markings. Anytime I want to check for parts or upgrades I am asked (understandably) for a reference or model number. Anyone who could help with additional identity the help would be much appreciated .

Regards
Stan
