Trying to decide the "Look" of Ballast

I am looking for pictures or a book showing ballast from mainline to sidings. Time frame has to be present day.
I made up samples of ballast and some came out ok, still searching for that look.
i am open to any ideas,etc. Thanks Toolman

I don't think there is any specific "LOOK" to ballast TM. When I look at the CN tracks that go through town here there are differences from on end of town to the other. If you are close to a real railroad go and take some photos for reference.
