The TRX has a slide carb with hi and low adj. the .18 has hi adj, no low adj. You'll have to get an old os carb to have both adj. The TRX has more overall power and more RPM. The .18 has a little more torque but not near the RPM. And it's just a cheap motor.
There is a new small block .21 that just came out if you want a lot of power, direct bolt in.

It's a great engine but you will have to have the conversion kit for the T-maxx.

y does it need to be extended? does it have to do with weight distribution or can i just mount the engine back farther on the chassis.

The engine (big block) will not fit, it's too long. The back of the engine will hit the rear shock tower and the clutch gear will not line up with the spur gear.
