Wow, thats pretty intense! I wish i had enough space on my layout to park my locomotives around like that! I also wish i had more six axle units. I keep buying them, (E60MA.E60C-2, SD45-2, C32-8, and an SD60I being the latest) but i always end up with more 4 axle power. I've got 4 GP15-1s sitting around my layout right now. (three smokey valley, one walthers).

I model the modern era, and i have almost no widecabs! I've got 4 i think, not counting my old UP dash-9, which is a wreck. Thats out of a roster of 56.

Then again, right now my layout is so small that baby geeps are about the only thing that looks right on it!

so keep up the good work, it looks like this layout will be impressive.

    Thanks G.E.C.

Im pretty much the opposite when it comes to locos. I have alot of 6 axles and hardly any 4 axles lol. I think i might have three 4 axles, the rest of my roster is 6 axles lol. I guess i just like BIG locos lol

    2 New Buildings Done

    Thanks Sawyer and Carl

So today i decided to take a break on the layout shelf building and build some Backround Buildings I have.

The first one i build was the Walthers Cornerstone Series Bud's Trucking Co. I pretty much left this building the way it was as far as colors. I only painted the bricks on the bottom grey and the dock surroundings black and the dock lift gates aluminum.

The second building i build was the Walthers Cornerstone Series Lauston Shipping. I painted pretty much everything differently then how it came in the kit. I painted the walls green, the bottom bricks grey, the doors white, docks black, dock lift gates aluminum and the window aluminum.

heres a small little scene i put together real quick for some pics of the new buildings:

    Another Backround Building Assembled

I decided to also put together the Walthers Cornerstone Series Centennial Mills Backround Building today.

I painted the main building a tan color, with green windows and doors, concrete colored loading dock, green dust collectors, and aluminum covered loading canopy. The only thing left to do on this one is construct the fire escape which will be green as well and slap a couple decals on it as well as the other 2 buildings i did today.

I also made this building so it is tilted at an angle along the wall.

I also took some more pics of the Armstrong Electric Motors building with some trucks at the dock

    Thanks Sawyer and G.E.C.

G.E.C., Hope you can work out an expansion for your layout, i hadnt realized your layout was only on a 4x8, some reason i thought it was bigger then that  anyways, hopefully you can expand

Yeah, i know, i'm good at what i do! You're not the first person to be shocked to find out how small my layout actually is. Thats why i chose an urban setting, so that you never really see the whole thing at any one time.

good work with the fire escapes. reminds me of things i have to do!

so much work, so little time!

Josh, looks great! I have just one little "nit" to pick. You have pics of a couple of 20 foot containers on chassis backed up to your dock. You may notice that the axles on the chassis are on a subframe that sticks out about 4 feet from the back of the box. That subframe is a slider on the prototype. It is designed to allow the chassis to be stretched out to a longer wheelbase to distribute the weight better so that none of the axles are overweight if the truck pulling the chassis/container has to cross a scales. When the container is unloaded/loaded at a warehouse dock, the axles/subframe assembly is slid forward to make the subframe flush with the back of the container so that it can be backed up tight to a dock. The "slider" probably does not slide on the model, so you will need to plan ahead and modify any shorty chassis that you want to have backed up to a loading dock.

Thanks Russ   I was wondering how that worked lol, thought it must be something like that

I have a bunch of these 22' container chassis, i built them half and half, so i can have half of them at docks where they are in the retracted position and the other half in the extended position for road travel :thumb:

Ive been working on the Walthers Cornerstone Series Heritage Furniture Building for the past 2 days and just finished it this morning. Well its not completely done, decals still need to be added and weathering needs to be done just like all the others i have built for this layout, as well as some added detail parts

I painted this one Grey with Brown Windows, heres some pics with trucks at the docks and boxcars in the long covered loading shed
