That covered hopper looks really good! I really like the coupler/truck work and the weathered BN logo. Nice work!

Thanks Herc, that is the most realistic one I have done so far, don't know how I did it but I am going to go back and do the couplers and trucks on most of the others to and make them look more like the BN one :D :D :D

I wondered the same thing, but if you go back to Page One, I think that you'll see what he means. :D:D

    sign1 I found itsign1

#169000 does not have the MRF name anywere on the car, it says made in Australia on the bottom though. I did not get a box with this car, it was part of a lot from e-bay.

I am guessing it is an old Roundhose or Atlas or maybe even an old Athearn. The top comes off instead of the bottom like most of the Athearn cars do so I don't think that it is one of those. My guess is Roundhouse

Sorry I can't tell ya for sure

I agree: I'm pretty sure that it's by Roundhouse, as I recall them releasing those cars with the side-seam.

    BNSF 55' Centerflow - 421649

Here is a Atheran BNSF 55' Centerflow Covered Hopper #421649. I just learned how to weather with chalks and here is the first attempt. I think that it came out pretty darn good. Now to weather the trucks and couplers.

    L&N Reefer #300308

L&N 50' Reefer #300308. Weathered using a light mist spray of gray concentrating more on the bottom of the car and then a black wash was applyed over it. The roof was done with brownish orange chalk powder.

Hey, TruckLover, how do you do such a nice job on weathering the sides of your insulated boxcars? I just got a 'Walther's Classic' kit for a CNW one (couldn't resist, it's perfectly orangy-yellow!), and I'm clueless as to how to do the sides. The top I'm treating the same way as my Grain elevator's roof (both were shiny silver), only lighter on my boxcar.

First off, thanks a bunch

I did those the same way as Deano weathers his engines and rolling stock, spraying a light coat of primmer grey on and then using India Ink wash and other washes. Im more into chalk weathering now but I still use Deanos method for when Im too lasy to break out the chalks

here is the link to Deano's weathering tutorial: http://forum.zealot.com/t113957/
