Traction tires

I have heard of guys using the little rubber bands used for orthodontic braces as tires for Bachmann and other locos. Anyone know about this?

Chuck- Welcome to The Gauge. Some steam locomotives come from the factory equipped with traction tires, especially in N scale due to their weight (or lack of). Using orthodontic braces is news to me, maybe there's some old-timers around that can enlighten us!

Yup !! Been using them for years. They cost very little, and half the time will give a handful. There are several different sizes, and I've used them on N and HO both. On HO, some are a little skinny so I opted for some thicker ones. Seemed a mite wide at first, but smoothed down good. A couple years, and they are still hanging on. Have had no problems whatsoever,
