announce1 Well the traction tire drivers showed up here today- so off to the train room. The install is very simple, remove bottom gear cover ( two screws) pull out the #4 driver and replace with the new driver set with the traction tires. Install the cover plate and your set to go!
I did a test pull. Kato locomotive would pull 15-16 cars without the traction tires. That is up a 1 1/2% grade and into a 15 inch radus curve with a 180 degree turn. With the traction tires I am pulling 22-23 cars up the same grade and turn. jawdrop :-D
Traction tires worth the cost and effort? YES! I think so. I have one more locomotive to do, and all of my Katos will be equiped with the traction driver change. Well worth the cost and effort.
