Very Cool! Has anyone been able to link to the Nike?
  6. I see he has linked the Hubble site to his own. Check it out you will see me with my Chrome Model. This was one of my shining stars. Of all my models I like this one the best.

It is nice to see you here at the site Ton. Welcome!
I loved your Hubble model -- truly spectacular details and a true joy to build. And I remember how excited I was when I saw someone had finally done Voyager and Deep Space 1 the respect they deserve in paper, and finally given me a chance to put them on my shelf. Thank you!

    That Beautiful HST Mirror Finish

I don't even want to start Ton's HST model without a good plan to get the realistic metallic finish you achieved. How did you do it? So far the only idea I have come up with is to use metallic mirror finish card stock and wrap it with a transparency printed with the graphics. Most of the graphics area has to be rendered transparent or white first, of course, which I have done. I am concerned about attaching the transparency to the card stock and the seam in the transparency using this method.

Are there methods/materials I can use to print directly on the mirror finish stock? Is the transparency method the route you took? How did you deal with the seams?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Can you share how you got the great metallic finish on your HST?

First of all, I hope you're not being buried with requests.

I don't even want to start your HST model without a good plan to get the realistic metallic finish that 'Bionic Modeler' achieved. (See his model on Hubblesite). So far the only idea I have come up with is to use metallic mirror finish card stock and wrap it with a transparency printed with the graphics. (I tried the transparency because I couldn't get either a laser or inkjet printer to render good graphics directly on the metallic paper.) Most of the graphics area has to be rendered transparent or white first, of course, which I have done. I am concerned about attaching the transparency to the card stock, however and about visibility of the seam in the transparency using this method.

Are there methods/materials I can use to print directly on the mirror finish stock? Is the transparency method the route to take? How do I deal with the seams?

Thanks for some outstanding work. I'm fairly new to paper and any help will be greatly appreciated!
