Back in '54... the Illinois Central would be the last railroad in the country, in 1960, to dieselize; the G.M. & O. was always dieselized... but the I.C. had a few. Here, one of the first GP-9s meets one of The Alton Road's F-3s. No one knew at the time that the G.M. & O. would one day be owned by the I.C.
