The Grande Valley's new (?) coalgons

The Grande Valley has just recently been granted a contract to haul coal northward from southern coalfields. The only problem is we don't have enough cars for the job.

We have been buying up any 100 ton hopper car that we can get ahold of ,and have been converting them in our own shops.

This is an old AHM or modern Con-Cor 100 ton 4 bay covered hopper The hoppers were covered with Evergreen strip styrene and ribs were made from the same material.

These cars will cost me about $7.50 a piece when done (I only want 100 of them :( )

These cars range from (1)reworked covered hoppers to (2) old 4 bay coal hoppers ,to (3)refurbished Johnstown Coal porters. All have rotary couplers on one end (hence the light grey end) installed.

6 down 94 to go.This is how I spent my weekend. :D .

Here's a couple pix of the unfinished cars in action.
