Thanks Skyseeker, I'm trying to get motivated to get back to work on the 3 ft. Galactica now, as well as Celestra & Geminon Traveler. I've been working on the Babylon 5 station the past few weeks. :)

Thanks Zathros, I am looking to hopefully get a new camera soon, this iPad mini is great, but like you said not good for close ups of models. I appreciate the input. :)

Yes I know what you mean by motivation. I've hit modeler's block with the Defender as well as time involving paid work stuff.

That's really cool that you're doing a Babylon 5 station. Please share your pics even when it's under construction that's part of the fun. I've "finished" the Omega Destroyer for now. Need to get a better design for the turrets. It seems to me the turrets on some of these designs are the bane of my existence. Oh well.

Keep on plugging away Chadepotts you do good work.

    Take care.

image.jpg I apologize, I'm still so bad about taking progress pics. But, here are 3 of my current distractions keeping me from continuing on the "Galactica Fleet" . Jay bats Babylon 5 station, Clever Santoro's U.S.S. Excelsior, & the AT-AT from SF Paper Craft ( not sure of the designer at this point).

image.jpg My Babylon 5 station, from Jaybats design. I reinforced the spine of the station by using 2 spliced together rolls from Glad's Press n' Seal wrap. I had to make a few sleeves on the end pieces, & cut some circular supports from foamboard on the wider pieces. But other than that, the tubes were the perfect diameter. Now to finish with the solar panels & other flare. :)

image.jpg Another ship I've been working on. Clever Santoro's U.S.S. Excelsior from the Star Trek movies. Our good Master Zathros gave me some really good suggestions on making a better model. Cutting off the tabs & making my own. I've really tried to put that into practice on this model, with amazing results. Sorry my pics don't show it, hopefully I can get a better camera soon. :)

image.jpg & then there's the newborn AT-AT, not quite weaned & not quite able to walk. Hoping to start on the legs this week, along with the guns & other extras.

A good question! I do actually have the reworked version saved on my computer, but I had already printed the original version. I have had several instances of printing a model, only to finding a newer version soon after. I have stacks of printed models waiting to be built, & don't want to waste any of them. I don't mind the practice, I do intend to build the reworked version soon. I am working toward building the Enterprise B, & by that time I hope to improve my building skills. & thanks for the input on the AT-AT. I do try to keep up with who has designed my favorite models, but sometimes I miss a few. ;)

So that is what Jaybats design of Babylon 5 looks like. Nice job and clever use of those plastic wrap cardboard tubes! Great idea. I'll do more of the same when I get around to building the "last best hope for peace (or pieces;))"

    Thanks for sharing!

I found Maverick65's build thread "Jays B5 Station Build" a huge help, as I was having a hard time with some of the parts. ( sorry, I'm a book person, not a computer person. I'm still trying to figure out how to post links). You may have seen his thread. Anyway, he has some amazing pics of his build, & they have really been helpful in helping me with the placement of certain parts. He also made his own base for the station, which is pretty cool! It has been a fun model, especially making the sphere on the "docking port" end. I'm experimenting with a different camera, so I hope to post some better pics soon. :). -Chadepotts

    Chad,

Looking forward to when you get the new camera. Hmmm... maybe one of these days when I get around to it the model might be scaled up a bit. Maybe 2x-3x of the original model. Of course if we make it the scale of Jaybat's Omega Destroyer the only place it might fit would be the living or family room. Don't know if the significant other would go for that.

Looking forward to watching the Excelsior build!

Give us a step by step tutorial, with all your observations and suggestions.

    THNX!

Thanks for watching! I don't know if I'll post any more pics of this particular Excelsior. I may start a new Star Trek build thread, apart from the Galactica thread, & build the newer version( I've got a LOT of Trek ships I'm planning to build in the days ahead) As I've said, I'm bad about taking progress pics, I've actually only been papermodeling for about a year and a half. But, I've learned a lot in that time, so I'm hoping & trying to take some better build/progress pics for my future posts. For this particular Excelsior model, there is a newer version, but I found & printed this one first. I'm almost done with the engineering section, & have only a small part of the saucer section done. Zathros suggested that I cut off all tabs & make my own, so I have really been trying to take my time do that on this model. Here are a few pics. It's a different camera from my previous one, so let me know honestly if it looks better or worse, or about the same from my previous pics. DSCN0490.JPG DSCN0492.JPG DSCN0493.JPG DSCN0494.JPG

DSCN0495.JPG The bridge section of the 3 ft. Galactica, I will try to post some better progress builds for this ship in my future posts. I deviated on Steve's original design for the skeleton of this section, so I won't show it. It turned out ok, but it could've gone bad. For the mid & engineering sections, I'll just stick to the original design. & hopefully post some good build pics. I haven't worked on this model for 5 or 6 months, but I'm back on it now. Next, is an unfinished Star Destroyer, & please forgive me again, unsure of the designer. :( . Still finishing up the engines & the edges along the hull. DSCN0507.JPG The "finished" Galactica fleet so far, the TOS Galactica, (one of my first builds), the colonial shuttle, Berzerk Battlestar, & Battlestar Pegasus. The fishing line doesn't usually show up in real life, its just some "movie magic".

DSCN0496.JPG I've considered the 3 ft. Galactica the centerpiece to my collection, so I've been taking my time on it. I've started some "greebling" on the topside, & soon to move down the port & starboard sides. It takes a lot of patience, & ink.

The past few pics, (after the AT-AT pics) were done with a "different" camera. Not a new camera, just different. A digital camera that my wife bought a few years ago. I think it takes clearer pics than my ipad, so I'll probably use it for a little while. I do, however, plan to get a better one soon.

    @Chadepotts1273 Nice collection so far!!:)

May I suggest setting the resolution of the camera MUCH lower that you have it at now, as the hi-resolution is too much for the web, and the pics take ages to load on the page. ;)
