Now that is some good gen Beejay. We would only have to bash the Island and the deck and AA guns of the Bonnie then.

I REALLY hope that someone will take up this challenge!! Few people realize that at the end of WW2, Canada had the 3rd largest navy in the world, and that Bonaventure was an important part of it!

All the best with this enterprise (no pun intended!)

    Regards from BC!

Well I googled Maly Modelartz Arromanches and whaddaya know there is an outfit in France which has it and the rest of the offerings of 1968 on CD Rom.

    http://modelscentrum.free.fr/uk/p274.html

So It appears that I can at least start to attempt a version of HMCS Bonaventure or Magnificent, the question is can I build a Banshee, Sea Fury, Firefly, or Avenger at 1/200?

Also is there a card model of the Stoof to be found?

True you could only the fact that the hull had major changes to incorporate the new deck setup.

    Hello StevO
If I am correct in thinking that you mean the angle-deck, HMCS Magnificent was never fitted with such a deck and to the best of my knowledge, never operated jet aircraft. I have notes that she operated Avengers, Fireflys, Seafurys and Sikorsky HO4S helicopters.

Please see this link : http://www.underthecat.com/themaggie.html

This deck (an RN invention, as was the steam catapult and deck landing mirror aid!!), invented to facilitate the operation of jet aircraft, was as you correctly state, fitted to HMCS Bonaventure during her completion.

    Please see link:

As can be seen from the above photo, port side hull modifications to Bonaventure to accomodate the angled deck were not too extensive.

As a closing note, the kit of Arromanches could also be completed as Canada's 1st post-war carrier, HMCS Warrior
