Just looked at an advert. in MR for a really nice model of the cars used to transport steel coils. Could anyone tell me when they came into use? Most of our rolling stock was 1950-60's era; some a bit before or later, but not much. Would this kind of car look OK or out of place (time) on our layout? Thanks, Dave

Best thing might be to e-mail the company that posted the advert, or check out their webpage (if they have one) and ask them.

Coil steel cars were built for the Pennsylvania RR so they go back at least before 1968.....
