Steel City Hobbies opened its doors in May of 2003 in Western Maryland while it was searching and researching for a home base which now is in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania metro area.
Steel City Hobbies (SCH) was founded by Michael Rooney and offers knowledgeable staff to answer all your needs in the hobby world. Mike and store purchasing manager Mike Whittington (NitroMike) put together a hobby shop in the Pittsburgh metro area that caters mainly to the Radio Control model enthusiast.
We are confident that our shop will put all others to shame as we have first hand experience with the frustrations of finding someone to trust with a favorite pastime such as R/C Racing. Also, we like to be as helpful as possible and can answer any question on the many facets of the R/C world, such as painting, tuning, and how to drive or fly your model without causing damage down the road.
Our goal is to provide quality service in a clean environment that is fun and educational to anyone who walks thru the front door. On-line services will help those who are out of the vicinity of one of our shops, as we try to help everyone!

Where it all began... Deep Creek Lake, MD.
Our 1st temporary location in PA was in the Washington Mall with over 20,000 SF of R/C! Now we have found a new home in the Great Southern Shopping Center located in Bridgeville, PA, 19 miles North of the Washington Mall.
