    hey all.

Everyone keeps asking for star wars models, and we keep getting the same old ones that are available free on the net, most of these models are veary good but they are just too few.
Some guys that loved a game called Homeworld transformed most of the game 3d ship models in to paper models using a japanease paper model program called pepakura - http://paperstarships.tengun.net

What im saying is why dont we do the same on star wars models using X-Wing Alliance - http://www.xwaupgrade.com/
the game has dozens os models with good quality.
If any one knows how to export these 3d models into pepakura to build paper models please say something!

    tks

    Howdy SARDANICO,

Welcome to the forum, we are glad to have you here. Yes I keep a list of links for the star wars models offered for free on the net for the simple fact someone always wants them. I am not into star wars myself, but, I try to be helpful when I can, as you will find out, most people here try to do.
Anyway, I cant help you with pepakura or reformatting, but if you ever need links of free models on the internet, I have tons of aircraft, rockets etc.... And others here are always willing to help too.
I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and tell ya we were glad to have you here and hope to see more postings by you in the near future.

    SARDANICO

Is a great way to get your own models ... we can find the 3D model on internet and using pepakura convert to a paper model.

Somebody knows what type of formats import pepakura ????
Or how is the best file type to import a 3d mesh into pepakura ???
It will be and excellent help

    tks for the welcome

Has for the 3d star wars models i have recently used a imperial star destroyer model available at:

    http://scifi3d.theforce.net/

it has lots of great models but they are too complex it took me weeks to "clean" the destroyer model on AutoCad, then explode all the faces and print it. the outcome was realy good, at this time i didt know pepakura so it has no textures. I have finished the hull and the main structures and im starting to begin detailing the model

I sugested using the 3d models in x wing alliance because its models are much easier to use but i have no idea how to export them to pepakura,
the game has 140 star wars models, we just have to find a way to export them to pepakura

i promise to post some pictures of the star detroyer model if anyone needs the blue prints tell me.
please excuse me for my poor english

It´s true, the cleaning process of a 3d mesh is very hard, i think this is the worst part of the task ... but i think that´s a great idea.
Well i dont have time to start learning 3d skills, maybe just work with the textures (i´m damn good with photoshop)
Have a nice day ... i dont´have one ... are you happy now??
    jejejejeje yust kidding

There is a paper star destroyer model at this link. http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~sf-papercraft/
The model can not be downloaded though :(
This is the same guy that made the tie fighters and the AT-AT, AT-ST Y-wing, Falcon, Sand Crawler..etc.
Unfortunatly all of his models have been pulled from the net as far as I know. Nice models though give them a look!

OK ive change my aproach, forget X-wing aliance, now im trying to use an HomeWorld mod of Star Wars - http://warlords.swrebellion.com

the 3d models here should be easier to work with and there is a greater number of ships
they are all stored in ".big" format has do all models in HomeWorld.
I'v tried lots os programs made to extract these files but i keep having the message - "not a valid big file"

does any one know a valid ".big" file extractor???
any one on the forum made paper models from homeworld and knows how to solve this?????

i think using these files is the easier faster and best know way to make paper models of any star wars ship that exists but until i or someone cracks this one we are still in a dead end!

im going to try asking in other forums
if anyone wants to help i would apreciate

    howdy SARDANICO,

You might try emailing the owner of that site and asking him. I find that when I need help that no one else seems to know anything about, alway go directly to the source.

    hope this helps,

Hya guys, It's been a while I know  But I finally found cardmodels again :D
Anyways I think SARDANICO's idea is very good. I found a website (Which I lost, but copied thnk god) which explains how to make papermodels of Homeworld .big files ;)

This is what you need, (I'll post the entire file somewhere but I need webspace first  )

BigViewer: Freeware, used to extract data from homeworld.big. Located http://www.ericksmodels.com/tips/paper/BigViewer3.zip
Deep Exploration: Shareware, used to convert ".peo" to ".cob" format. Located here: http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dexp/
Lif2Psd: Freeware, used to convert the .lif textures to Photoshop format. Located here : http://www.ericksmodels.com/tips/paper/Lif2Psd.zip
Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop: Shareware, used to edit the texture file. Here: http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro/
Metasequoia: Shareware or Freeware (LE), used to edit the ".cob" and save as a ".mqo" file. Located here: http://www21.ocn.ne.jp/~mizno/main_e.html
Pepakura Designer: Used to unfold the 3D model and make a printable model. Located here : http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/

Hope it helps and that we can crack this problem
