I'd like to post photos of my card model of the SS Botany Bay. It's a card model that I've made to look as if it were a real NASA spacecraft of the late 20th century.
Man this really tops off the day!! I can't believe all the fantastic stuff people have posted here.
This Botany Bay is absolutely fantastic and believable. Your added detailing really , to be honest, outdoes the modelers of the original series ship. I love the foil covering, the names of the shipping containers. You did it first, anyone doing this will have now be following your beauty!
That really does look amazing. It also stuck me as funny. I've had this model for years, but I only just printed a copy a few days ago. I must've known yours was coming along for some inspiration.
Astounding and very beliveable depiction of a science fiction craft....Love this particular model ans I was thinking of doing the same thing to the Jackson Roykirk Nomad Space probe.....
I didn't want to stray too much from Matt Jeffries' original design and the TOS Star Trek model is very, very good at depicting a space ship that has been damaged and adrift in space for 200 years. I wasn't trying to improve on Jeffries' design as much as simply interpreting what such a space craft could have looked when it was brand new and built out of 20th century technology in a NASA-style design.
WOW!!! What a great idea, it does look so real. You did an outstanding job, the foil really makes it stand out. Thanks for sharing such a unique idea with an iconic ship from the trek universe. You made my day.
Looks like you have a world of submarines you could design, and rockets from 1950's and 1960's shows. Getting the time, that is difficult, for sure. Study the plans you have downloaded, which is what many many people do, and find something that interests you. That really helps.
Well, I think that your first and only foray thus far was excellent! I really do hope that you'll finish more designs and post them. The Botany Bay was so fun to build that I may do another but this time make it appear like the studio model.
