i still havn't show half my cars and stuff, soo i decided to show some more cars... i don't have enough room to have everything out for photographs at once, soo i'll slowly post some more pictures of more stuff in this thread

this is actually the train set that started it all, it's been in the family since it was new

third picture is a set with a little of everything, tinplates in the front, an marx eight wheeled car, and on the far left a more detailed marx box car

Nice photos.
I found a set with the 400 loco and the plastic 8 wheel cars with the handshake couplers.
I pieced together a set with the 400 loco and 4 wheel plastic cars with the Joyline couplers.
The CV set with the 6" 4 wheel cars with tab and slot couplers was pieced together also.
I don't have any 7" metal cars, YET.

This is another Marx loco I have. Not sure what number it is, it was a real rust bucket when I got it.
A little cleaning and some oil got it to run so I soldered some tin patches on the inside, filled the holes with solder and filed and sanded it to shape. before painting it.

This is the 400 with all my 8 wheel cars.
They look to be the same as the 4 wheel cars without the fake molded on truck. The truck on the 8 wheel cars mount in the same hole as the coupler does on the 4 wheel cars. The tender and caboose have a metal floor though.
I don't have a plastic tank car in either wheel arangement yet so I am not sure how they are set up.
I have another 4 wheel gondola that has the tab and slot coupler.
The funny thing is , you can couple the tab and slot coupler to a Joyline coupler or a handshake coupler but the Joyline coupler and the handshake coupler will not couple.

thats pretty sweet, and awsome job on the restoration of that one train!

and i actually have a plastic tank car, i'm not sure if i have pictures of it, but it's a white rocket fuel one from the NASA set, i actually just this week found pictures of the full nasa set, and now i want it  the tank car for the four wheeler was an open bottom i think... i actually havn't run it in awhile, since the tinplates been on the tracks most of the time lately

it's also pretty cool how all the cuplers work together, i've mixed the tinplates with the metal tab hooks up both the other types of cuplers

A question: Are the Marx the same gauge as Lionels (O27)?

Gus.

Yes, they are.
However, Some Marx locomotives will not go through the Lionel turnouts and crossovers.
The gear on the drivers interfere with the frogs and guard rails.

i have a mix of new lionel track alongside of the older marx tracks

the marx should run with lionel transformers.. when you get the larger engines out with a line of cars on them, you might run into some lack of power issues since the basic lionel transformer doesn't quite give enough power as marx transformers do, but that can be fixed if you have a good transformer

here's the listing of afew of the other posts i've made here with pictures of my marx trains that you'll enjoy taking a peak at
