I want to put in my twopence worth. I have a book by Iain Rice called (something like) Modelling Fine Scale Track. From the pictures in the book, it looks as if he could model anything he could draw. I believe that if you're going to build a layout from a published plan, you should redraw it yourself or lay it out with actual pieces of track. I built one where a crossover was crammed into a foot (30 cm) with no room to expand and the tracks wouldn't fit ino the width shown. I won't comment on any of his plans -- since I model Britsh stuff, I can't really use them.
