    WOW

Without question, one of the best looking kits I have EVER seen.

And kudos to the Gremir models staff- very, very, very FAST service!

    P-47 OD version

Just thought I'd note that I'm nearly done with the Olive Drab version of the P-47 now (6D5, 350 FG). I think it might look better than the silver one. I had to shrink the image down to less than 33% to get it to upload but it still seems to look alright.

John, this is fantastic! I got mine yesterday and am already planning out how I want to build it. Did you keep any notes or use any references on how you made the textures look like bare aluminum? I ask this and many more will, so I can "play" with the Modelart P51D and make it look like your jug. In my dreams of course but I can still do that!

    Aluminum

Well, the most general advice about natural metal aircraftI have is also the best all-round... think of the plane as a cylindrical mirror (but not as reflective as glass). Underneath is more earth toned, the top more sky. Then remove most of the color. I had to keep tweaking it alot.

    Yeah.............
Rembrandt and DaVinci had similiar advice - look at what you want to paint, mix some colors, grab a brush and paint

Knowing how to do it and actually being able to do it, that's a difference between normal people and true artists.
John, I can only look and admire your handiwork!

Yeah like sculpting.............. just remove the stuff that doesn't look like what you want............ and then you have your sculpture........

Tis a beautiful thing you have done John................ now I've got to convince the wife I need an Olive Green one:grin:
