No it's not brass, the thought of it...
It is just card. I coloured it with a gold paint pen which my wife bought years ago to decorate Christmas cards.
Once dry I gave it a wash of thin green paint (very bright green - verdigris in fact). I noticed this to be the way propellers looked on boats the last time I visited Whitby, Yorkshire.
So not very clever, just a left over pen and a bit of paint.
All is illusion, that is the beauty of card models.
