The RS-27 was a 2400-hp locomotive built by Alco in the early 1960s. It was not popular, and was replaced in the catalog by the C424.

The RS-27 is definitely an RS, with prominently raised radiators, as well as hood notches both front and back. Its proportions - full-height hood and stubby low nose - are like the C424 and C425, but unlike other RS-series.
