RailRon's Layout Party - finishing standard gauge tracklaying

Up to now I finished laying the flextrack and turnouts for the standard gauge part of my layout. Here are a few views of the east and west loops/helices and 'Ronville station'.

Next thing I do? I'm off for my winter holidays in the mountains for two weeks.
Then it's back for more, finishing the wiring and plunking down some buildings.
(However, I'll take a laptop along, and I hope to stay in contact with the Gauge, although it will only be per dial-up connection. :( :( :( )

I'm back from the winter holidays and started railroading by wiring up some Digitrax connector panels.
For the moment I installed three of them - two more will follow later.

First try to create a scratchbuilt masonry tunnel portal

I applied Shaywen's coloring technique for a pink foam tunnel portal (see Academy) to Robin's favorite material - cardboard!

So far I finished only the tunnel face - next will be the 'tube' behind it. I'll describe 'the making of' in a different thread

After testing out the wiring of the standard gauge section (it worked on the first try! :thumb:), I finally found the time to print the name plates for my Ronville station.

Here's how it looks now - almost complete. Still missing are the details: Baggage, freight in the shed, LPBs...

The party is over...

Well, I reached my goal - finish laying and wiring the standard gauge part of my layout plus adding a few structures.

Next I'll venture into handlaying narrow gauge track. The ties of Ronville yard are already in place - now I'll have 'only' to spike the rails down...:D
