A friend of mine has sent me an "old" version of RR Tycoon and after looking at it, the game has piqued my interest.

I understand that there are more recent versions available and I am wondering what opinions you may have on this train game.

Jeff,
I have it too, it's quite fascinating and superbly presented. 'Course it gets very complicated as your empire expands and it is extremely time consuming.

I must have the early version, but a great facility in it is to contruct your own terrain!! I have only fiddled with that part of it but it seems like a superb (and fast) way of putting your ideas into a 3D representation of what you might like your own pike to look like. All in all a 1st rate program.

Tycoon II TSC

I've got Tycoon II TSC (The Second Century), with Antarctica, some "fantasy" maps, post global warming flood maps etc etc. war scenario's needed troop and artiliary movement to fend off invaders etc. trains go right up to Thaly's bullet and maglev trains too. You can also play it over the net with multiplayer mode. (heat.com). Perhaps we could arrange a game sometime?? :D

I like the cheat code of "viagra" too. Makes the citys grow real quick!

So exactly what is the "latest" version of this game?

The one I was given was a download of the first edition. From what I gather, there is at least 3 out there and #2 sounds to be the best?

Mine is Railroad Tycoon II The Second Century expansion pack. It's dated 1999 on the pack, so it's quite old, I suppose. I have no idea if there is a newer one.
