    The R1 was a Pennsylvania Railroad electric locomotive. Its body styling is similar to a GG1. It has a 2-D-2 wheel arrangement, so it might be confused with the DD2, which is a 2-B-B-2. However, the frame that holds the powered axles rigidly together is visible. Also note the skirting over one end truck, the air tanks above the other end truck, and multiple grilles that are flush with the body.
