Question About Life-Like Switchers

Question:

I have a Life-Like switcher. I removed the shell yesterday and noticed that one of the contacts that attaches to the shell is missing. I have no idea when this went missing or if was ever there. Does anyone know where I can get a new one?

I’ve noticed that the engine is a little skittish on turnouts, but I never put a lot of thought into it until now.

Unfortunately Life-Like was purchased by Walthers a few years ago.
I have a Life-Like SW9/1200 purchased 2 years ago and when I opened the shell to install Micro-trains couplers 2 contacts out of 4 fell down. I was lucky I didn't loose any.

Try to contact Walthers first or buy a spare contact from Atlas ( for a GP9 or an MP15 DC for example ) file it to match the Life-Like one and try to glue it to the frame with crazy glue.

They fall out, and disappear easily. You can make a replacement out of a small piece of brass, and super glue it in place. Some people advocate this in any case to improve the performance of the loco.
