During this last week, a friend and I went out to the very edge of the KCS yard in Leesville to to take some photos of an old KCS Southern Belle baggage car that's sitting on an abandoned spur. It's sitting on light track, probably 85 pound rail at the heaviest and to my knowledge has been there since before 1970. At one time it was painted all white and was part of the local MoW train. We got photos of the outside and some of the inside.

Click this link to view them. There are several pages.

Hey Chessie, pardon the diversion from model rr talk, but your caption broght back a memory I want to pursue. The line "I'm a 1000 miles from nowhere" reminds me of a song I know by Boz Scaggs, tho others may have done it as well. The line was "i'm a thousand miles away from home, just waiting on a train" followed by some yodelling. I had this on a cassette I recorded from someone long ago, lost both the cassette and any memory of who I recorded it from. I would love to find the cd but I just seached Boz Scaggs on Google and while I found his dicography, I still don't know which album this song was on, other than it has to be amoung the first 5 listed. Can you help me out here? (It even looks like Boz in the boxcar!)

Here we see C&HV LO-CO waiting for a NS train with CN Power roar by before getting permission to enter NS on trackage rights.

Here we see LO-CO just seconds before derailing at a tunnel portal..16 of 19 cars will leave the rail-no joke here..The last car jump the track and jammed in the tunnel portal causing 15 more cars to derail.:eek:ops:
