My second ECW heavyduty flat car arrived yesterday, courtesy of a backorder at Walthers. Wondering what everyone would recommend for the maximum diameter of a load on these units, in HO scale. The deck seems to be about 1.5" itself, so I'm guessing I probably shouldn't go much wider than this - any suggestions ?????

Mike, your load could go maybe a scale foot or so over the edges, this way you may require flags or lights for safty standards that have to be displayed. I would check with the NMRA guage to ensure clearances. Just ran down and checked mine: 14' 6" in width (HO scale) 2 inches (normal ruler) width. Also while down there checked short flat car that I have a load of ties on : width 10 ft (HO scale) and 1 & 7/16ths inch wide this is from the outside stake pockets. So appears as you have a little room for your load to stick over. Ron...
