I saw this for the first time on the A**** forum, and was pleasantly amused. Sadly though, one inividual took such a degree of offense he bid everyone farewell forever and cut ties with the forum and their products. I was very surprised to have seen that happen and didn't understand - perhaps I don't get it, but I don't see the "porn" factor there.

Ah, well. Long live Monty Python and Bennie Hill!!

Following links, I visited the Atlas and Trainorders sites this morning. It's the first time in months I have gone to either. I couldn't believe what a brouhaha this has started at both places. And all over a simple piece of cleverly done satire. Oh well...

My reaction was the same as Tyson's. :D :D :p

Evidently the Model Railroad society is populated with a bunch of prudes! Nah, that couldn't be! :p :D :) ;)

I've run into this kind of thinking elsewhere. I worked for a fellow who threw his son out of the office because the guy said "cheeees". The old man absolutely thought he was swearing. The problems generally lies in the mind of the listener not the speaker! (chuckle)

:D :D :D I'm chuckling here at the thought that for one month MR will be on the top shelves wrapped in cellophane!!!:D :D :D

I'm also laughing at the moron who would abandone a forum instead of cancelling his subscription to a magazine   .

All in all though I guess we're a level headed bunch of guys in this forum .... (though my wife has her doubts about me!  :D :D )

Just goes to show how sick and twisted a lot we are here. The news media will zoom in for a close up of all the blood and guts at an accident or crime scene, but heaven forbid a bare breast is ever seen.(except for a primitive tribe on the discovery channel, or in National Geographic). It really leaves me puzzeled, why a subject as natural as the rising and setting of the sun, has to be treated with such revulsion.  :(

OK, it was three cents, sorry. :D :D :D

Actually more than one forum - Atlas and Trainorders at least.

Obviously the gentleman who became enraged over the " next MR" posting lacks a sense of humor and felt the need to retailate due to his vocation. I thought the picture at The Onion was not in bad taste at all and was quite comical. It did not offend me at all and in fact I have had some good chuckles over it all day.

In the world of publishing what was posted at The Onion is called a spoof. Here's the definition according to The American Hertiage Dictionary....

NOUN: 1. Nonsense; tomfoolery. 2. A hoax. 3. A gentle satirical imitation; a light parody.
TRANSITIVE VERB: Inflected forms: spoofed, spoofing, spoofs
1. To deceive. 2. To do a spoof of; satirize gently.

That's the lesson for today...class dismissed!

Verb

Hi Casey, A transitive verb is a noun which becomes a verb simply by the addition of a suffix such as ed, ing, s and etc. to denote action(s) ie; a noun which can be changed to a verb.....they also have 8 legs and are best dispatched with a flyswatter!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :p

Sorry, no extra credit for that question:D :D :p
