Accumate vs Rapido couplers

I just purchased a GP-38 Atlas Loco with the Accumate couplers mounted. I tried to mount the Rapido couplers supplied with the loco. I'm a bit (understatement) confused about how and where to install the brass spring included in the kit.
Help!

TIA
John

Yes, I want to install the Rapido couplers supplied with the locos.

My rolling stock is about 30 years old, most of them NIB. I'm getting back into the hobby and thought it would be easier to change the couplers on the locos to get an earlier and cheaper start.

My druthers would be to make up an adapter car or two with a Rapido coupler on one end and a knuckle coupler on the other. This isn't difficult to do if you can find a 1990's Atlas car equipped with Rapidos. replace one Rapido truck set with an Atlas accumate truck set.

Thanks 3railguy,
I did manage to figure out where to place the spring. Installing the coupler was another pain but I did it. I don't like the looks two different couplers on the loco and will probably use your method and set up a couple of adapter cars and convert all of my rolling stock after I win the lottery:)
