An image is worth a thousand words...

My great friend, I believe that the image below will show what I'm talking about. I took the liberty of showing partially my and your posts, and put two (very poorly drawn) arrows pointing to the icons.
You'll see that they are different than what they used to be. I hope this image clears things out.
Thanks once again for your patience,

    Rogério

You're in the minority, I'm sorry. This is how it's going to stay. Look at the beginning of the thread and make sure your monitor is adjusted properly. I build computers and most people have their computer monitors set up wrong. I have trouble seeing and have found this very relaxing on the eyes. My left eye has a piece of debris blocking a 1/4 of the lens, and suffer from Vitreous tugs. I still see it fine, better even. The bright overall light being gone is not straining my eyes.

Give it time, and you will get used to it. :)

I have to say that I like the new skin.
I wear glasses (for reading), and I have no problems with reading any of the posts. All of the photos and attachments really pop out.

As Zathros has said, we are collecting each concern and making notes as to what the bugs are so they can be fixed.

I must say that the new theme is growing on me. Thank goodness the text colour was lightened. It's really looking good so far.

The brightened text is much easier now, thanks! I do like this skin, and as the quirks are worked out, it gets better and better :)

If anyone find more quirks, that have not been listed, post them here, please. The only one I know of is the "Post Icons" The descriptions not matching what is shown, as pointed out by Rogerio. We sure look up to date! I think the more I use it, I like it even more! :)

    Being fair...

I hadn't seen it, but cafe pointed the same thing I stated in his post (http://www.zealot.com/forum/showpost.php?p=970831&postcount=45)

Allors, merci beaucoup aussi pour vouz, cafe = So, thank you very much too, cafe! And sorry for my bad French (don't like to use Google, unless it's inevitable...)!

    Dude, calm down...
Nobody is worth getting that upset over.
Yes, you have experience with setting up PCs and monitors - that doesn't mean others don't, so just chill. It's up to the members to decide if they'll continue to participate in the forums or not - no loss to you or anyone.

BTW, my monitor is also setup properly - I have a datacolor Spyder4 elite calibration device that I use periodically to calibrate my monitor - I do some freelance graphic work - and I can say that to some people with sensitive eyes like me, this theme does hurt (not a lot, just a bit of discomfort).

This is also the reason I asked if the admins would consider allowing the members to change to another theme (white or light grey background).

I'm not saying that the admins and mods here aren't working their ass off to make this a site better, it is pretty evident that they are. It's just a suggestion that the members be allowed to change to a lighter theme to suit their preferences - no two people are alike.

    Just my 2 cents worth...

You 2 cents worth are worth far more than that. I changed the post, but not by much. Sometimes previous history has an accumulative effect.

As far as what changes members could make, I cannot get into detail, but we are pushing hard for all the members here.

I never told anyone to change their monitors for this forum, I posted a picture so that they may at least see if they are close to what they should be.

Yes, it is up to the members to decide if they wish to participate or not, no doubt. I can assist in that decision if the posts are not helpful or in keeping with the forum in general. Rhaven and I set the tone for this forum and ultimately, we decide who stays and who goes. This is a private forum.

I appreciate anyone's input, but not misrepresentation. As far as experience in setting up P.C.'s and monitors, just to be clear, I fix electronics to component level. I owned and operated an electronic repair shop in one of the wealthiest towns of Connecticut for over 10 years. So my experience goes beyond what you may know about me.

I was an authorized Sony and RCA T.V. repair center. I ran my shop single handed because I could never find anyone else who knew how to really fix electronics.

I do like the datacolor Spyder4 elite calibration equipment. Obviously, in your field, it is a necessity. I used to check color with an Oscilloscope before I even turned the screens on.

We are asking for the owners of the site for more than you may know, but it does take time to set up, and helpful input is what we need. I know of a forum where people can go to if all they want to do is complain. I don't suffer it well. I have no problem with suggestions and better yet, in a P.M.. I can accept just about anything in a P.M.. It is when unhelpful comments are posted in the forum that I get agitated. I have spent 5 hrs. on this forum today, and I do not get paid for this.

I also have sensitive eyes. I was a Tool and Dye maker, and I programmed 4 axis CNC machines for almost 16 years. I have a machine shop at my home, and still all of my electronic equipment. I often work with tolerances of .0002" tenths of an inch.

I am aware that other people have abilities, but the speed and impatience that some display show their inexperience, or malice.

I would gladly entertain any further discussion in P.M.'s with you.

I am putting my part to rest here. Please, if you wish to respond to what I have written do, but I would appreciate it in a P.M.. Thanks.

I have to say the skin looks swish. As a preference, I like light text on a dark background. It's the way I designed my first website (in the mid 90s) and is a preference of mine when coding (light grey on dark grey).

However, currently the only place I can put my computer is with a huge set of bay windows behind my back. This results in catastrophic screen-glare resulting in dark sites being just about unreadable. If I could relocate my computer to a dark corner of the flat I'd be completely sorted, but I can't so I'm not.

The "dark screen" look is fantastic in a low-light setting, the "light screen" look much better for a high-glare environment.

That is a hard situation. You could always make a set up like the old time photographers! Some simple modifications "oui, là"!:)

Now it's night-time it's, well, lovely and readable!

I do a lot of surfing at night so it's not that much of a problem. Also, now my festivals are over and my t-shirt production has finished (for now) I should be getting stuck into some actual modelling.

Did the font color revert to gray or is my browser doing some weird things?
