What do you want out of your car, speed or run time , for speed get the lowest turn motor your esc can hold and for batery you should ask someone else about and gears too.

not sure about gearing(timrock is good with that, he helped me out w/ it)but with speed out of a 12T with the right gearing u can probobly get about 35-38mph out of it. maybe a little more.

there isnt really a `correct gearing`.generaly, you gear the car they way you prefer and/or according to track lenghth and driving style.
if you prefer to get the highest MPH go with higher gearing(smaller spur/larger pinion gears.)the higher you gear it the slower it will accelerate and you lose run time.if you gear it too high, you can burn out the ESC so go up gradgualy dont just through the biggest pinion and smallest spur on it.
6-7cell 12t?mph?i would say around 50.here is a cheap but fast motor/battery combo.
