Need technical assistance....

Ignorant know it all
Hi Gang,

I've seen plenty of information on resin casting with RTV molds...

I need how-to information on casting white metal and lead parts. What do I use to make the molds?

I was thinking of using casting plaster.... Will that work, or should I be using something else?

Some parts will only need to look good on one side, others might need details all 'round...

Thanks in advance....

Ron, keep in mind that ordinary safety glasses aren't good enough for hot metal casting. A splash of hot metal can hit your cheek or eyebrow and still get to your eye. Also, some people will turn their head slightly, when a surprise [ like a spill or splash]occurs, and this exposes the eye to the hot metal even more.

Use a full face shield, or a set of the goggles that fit to your face all around your eye sockets.

Not trying to be alarmist, but have been burnt in the eye many years ago, while running a turret lathe [hot ductile iron chip] and know the limits of ordinary safety glasses, which I was wearing at the time.
