I am scratch-building a 1920s era wooden water tank, and need suggestions for making the spout and other details from scratch.

I am tempted to go out and buy some detail parts, but want to try and have this entirely scratch built!

So, I need help with:

- water spout, chains, counterweights
- water level indicator
- finneal (sp?) - you know, the thing at the peak of the roof...!

I will use 10 gauge wire for the piping to the spout, and I have built most of it from balsa and basswood. The roof will be singled with brown paper bag.

Pictures as soon as available.

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

How 'bout...

twisted fine wire for chain, lamp pull chain for counter weights and a small nail and bead for the finial.

I use 400 grit sandpaper for shingles.

I also have a download to send for the spout if interested.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Scratch building the spout is turning out to be quite difficult! It is the last detail I have to add.

I'll get pictures up as soon as possible.
