need formula for scale

well my son and i are having a discussion on which we do not agree.
I need to know the formula for figuring out the miles of track in n scale you have on a layout
we have a total of 519 inches of track on our small layout
i say we have just over a mile and he thinks its about 3 miles
help!!!

You have about 1.31 scale miles of track, computed as follows:

519*160/12/5280

The 160 gets you from n-scale to real-world, the 12 converts from inches to feet, and the 5280 converts from feet to statute miles.
