Nebraska RR Question

Last year I drove the family to South Dakota, the Black Hills. We came up through Nebraska and took Rt. 2 through the Sand Hills up to Alliance. along Rt. 2 we saw a lot of trains that looked like they were pulling coal. Can anyone confirm that for me and tell me what RR that was we were looking at. Some of those trains were well over 100 cars long.

That would be the BNSF coming from the Wyoming coal fields.

The Powder River Basin is also a great place to watch BN coal trains - next time you are in that neck of the woods.
