yeap, that's GPM template. I just have to come up with something grassy around it so the carpet doesn't show......

    Somewhere in the Pacific.......

For some time know I had this nagging thought about showing airplane models in a little more natural setting.
I tried that with Kikka when I took the model outside but with a little wind the plane almost flew off and I'm restricted to daylight wich with kids running around and wife watching and doing those circles on her forehead and rolling eyes (what does she mean by that????? ) it is a bit inconvenient...

So I had this bright idea about creating a little Pacific island just for my planes.
Before I start adding few palm trees and maybe some other stuff, I wanted to show you a photo snapped few minutes ago just as a test.
Let me know what you think, maybe some additional ideas of what to do with it - throwing out is out of the question!

Very nice Mike, can I make an antique shot of this to see how it would look?

Looks very good and much more realistic than mine....
I have to experiment a bit with taking photos so the background is a little out of focus and maybe add some distance between model and the background....

Cool! Where did you find that background Michael? Did you make it? It almost looks like some of those scenery add ons you can get for backs of aquariums!

    AllPosters.com
I browsed their offer until I found something inexpensive showing palm trees and blue sky and having correct dimensions - total cost $24

Well since you asked, I was thinking that it needs something to break up the straight line that is between the floor and the flora, if you know what I mean.
Maybe some models of palm trees and grass in front of the picture.
Just a couple of trees and some grass should break up that straight line and make it seem more real.

    Just throwing out some ideas.

I think FLU had a diorama a Japanese plane a while back and found some paper palm trees somewhere. My memory is spotty, so I may be crazy. You might have a look on his threads.

    Yes, he did.
I was just thinking the same thing when you posted, Rick.

I believe it was a Japanese plane he was showing off too.

Now I realize that it had to be his posts that gave me an idea to do mine little experiment, I just forgot that I saw those photos
I can't paint even if my life depended on it so I had to find some other means of creating jungle background
