N track painting and ballasting pic

I still have to paint some random ties with a gray colour.
Any suggestion for improvment ? Tia

Depending on my mood when weathering rail I will use anything from a rusty brown to the railroad tie brown you've used.I then paint the ties flat black.Once the black is dry I use various shades of gray ranging from very light to very dark with some white tossed in for good measure to drybrush a little colour on the ties sometimes doing it very heavy and other times just a hint of colour.

Thanks for the suggestion Catt.
I randomly painted some ties with a mix of red-brown + light grey, and some other with ... RLM ( Luftwaffe ) grey because that's the only shade of dark grey that I have.

Tonight I'll weather the ballast ( black wash ) and post some pics.

Here is the pic .
The ties color are:
1) Dark brown ( Fleischmann, out of the box )
2) Medium brown: ( 66% Tamiya red- brown + 33% Tamiya Medium grey )
3) "Luftwaffe" ( RLM ) grey lol

The ballast inside the rails has been weathered with a 10% Tamiya flat black and 90% isopropyl alcool
