Hey folks.

I read somewhere the other day that some one had (it might have been here) or rather is using an old DC power pack to supply power to his tortoise switch machines.

The question I have is could I use this one... MRC - DC POWER Series - RAILPOWER 1370, Item: AA370, TRAIN CONTROLS/DC POWER
to power some switch machines on my layout?

He mentioned that he could use the throttle to drive the tortoise machines faster if he wanted to.

Thanks.

I build my own motorized switch machines so I'm not sure about this. I believe the tortoise switch machines use a "stall motor", one that has a constant current through it all the time.
You would have to determine the current draw of the tortoise motor, and, if you are using several on the one supply, make sure that the sum of the individual currents is equal to, and not greater than, the maximum DC output current of the power pack, which, in this case appears to be 1 amp.
